| We are well into the Advent season when our music is more reflective and also anticipatory in nature. We are singing the Merbecke Chants and there is no Gloria, just the Kyrie during this season. Among the anthems that the choir will be singing are an "Advent Prayer", "Comfort Ye" and an "English Advent Prayer ". On December 4th, Jennifer Gormley will be singing a lovely 20th Century version of The 23rd Psalm.
On Sunday night, December 11th, during the Living Nativity, I will be at the organ playing familiar and maybe not so familiar carols. Bring the children into the Church and sit for awhile to experience some quiet time during this hectic season. Our Sunday School children will be presenting their Christmas Pageant entitled "Prepare..... The Lord Is Coming" on Christmas Eve at the 5:30 p.m. service. The highlight of the Pageant, which tells the coming and the birth of Christ, will be the children singing a contemporary John Rutter piece entitled "The Colours of Christmas". All of the children are involved in this Pageant and are working on the scenery and costumes during their Sunday morning class. At the 11:00 Service there will be a great deal of joyous Christmas music and, in addition, Chelsea Kayle will be singing the great "O Holy Night". On January 1, 2012 we will have the traditional Service of Lessons and Carols, with some familiar and not so familiar carols. The choir is working very hard to pre- pare all of this music so that you and your fam- ily can enjoy the true meaning of the Christmas Season through great music. |
